Reinforced - Braided & Spiral
MinVasive Components offers innovative micro-tubing products, including: braid, coil, and longitudinally reinforced tubes. Stainless steel, Nitinol, Vectran, Kevlar and Daycron can be used to reinforce the tube structure.
Embedded Reinforcement Materials
Our reinforcement materials are positioned within the wall of the tubing. These include:
Round reinforcement
- Good strength
- Requires a larger wall thickness
Flat reinforcement
- Made with thinner walls
- Smoother outer surface
- Generally stiffer than those made with round wire
Benefits of round or flat reinforcement
- Provides a structural reinforcement
- Improves kink and crush resistance
- Improved torque transmission
- Improved push-ability and burst strength
Variations in Flexibility and Pick Count
Small changes in flexibility are achieved by changing the pick count (PPI=picks per inch) or density of the braid material. A low pick count results in a stiffer tube with more torque and less elongation, while a higher pick count means more flexibility with better kink resistance and higher elongation. Pick counts can also be varied throughout a continuous length of a tubing product to provide different levels of flexibility.
